The House of Olives – the quintessence of Montenegrin
olive growing and olive oil production

The House of Olives is a modernly designed multi-purpose facility. It serves as a place for processing olives and producing olive oil in accordance with the producers’ needs and the highest technological standards of food quality, safety, and preservation. It also serves as a facility where packaging and labeling of our products is carried out, and where services are provided for olive growers and olive oil producers. The facility is a hotspot for social activities and promotion of the culture of olive growth and production. In virtue of its unique architecture, the House of Olives ennobles and beautifies the area of Stari Bar.

The House of Olives is an ideal space for workshops, seminars, trainings, exhibitions, professional agricultural and scientific meetings, as well as for various cultural and artistic events and tourists gatherings aimed at enjoying, promoting, and celebrating olive cultivation. The House of Olives strives to improve the knowledge and raise awareness of local producers and consumers about the importance of top quality olive products. In addition to being a haunt for olive growers and producers, the House of Olives welcomes other agricultural workers and provides training for students of agricultural and food studies.

We are committed to cooperation with Montenegrin and regional research centers so as to acquire innovative knowledge and skills about the production of olive oil of the best quality and the highest quantity. We aspire to bring regional and world experts to Bar and Montenegro for educational activities. Additionally, we strive to place Montenegrin olive oil on the foreign market and make it competitive among world olive oils in terms of its quality while trying to reduce the surpluses on the domestic market. We are especially devoted to protecting, promoting and valorizing the autochthonous olive variety Žutica and the olive oil obtained from it, to expanding olive groves within the country, and to ensuring a continuous supply of certified virus-free planting material of autochthonous Montenegrin olive varieties. Our goal is to preserve the Montenegrin olive growth tradition whilst combining it with the best modern innovations and practices.

Last but not least, the House of Olives aspires to connect Montenegrin agriculture, primarily olive growing and production, with its tourist, hospitality and culture industries. We aspire to provide a comprehensive visibility of agrotourism, especially aiming to restore to olive cultivation the status of “the golden branch of Montenegrin agriculture”. We aim to inspire young people to dedicate themselves to olive growth and production, professionally or as amateurs, and to encourage women and vulnerable social categories to realize their entrepreneurial ideas by expanding the range of their products in this sector.
